About Us

RALPH'S RIDERS was founded in 2008 by Mayra Fornos in Los Angeles, California. She wanted to create a community of exceptional individuals with spinal cord injuries and mobility impairments in Southern California to provide peer guidance, resource information, inspirational advice and a supporting network for other individuals in need. Each RIDER has a spinal cord injury or mobility impairment and has adjusted to life extremely well despite enormous obstacles, which gives each RIDER a unique perspective on life as well as an ability to set a great example for individuals in need.

RALPH'S RIDERS believes that nearly all individuals who have a life changing injury or impairment can benefit from peer guidance. All RIDERS know that they benefited from peer guidance after their injury or impairment and have a strong commitment to help individuals in need in the same manner. Each RIDER believes that the network within RALPH'S RIDERS has a tremendous amount of inspirational advice and resource information that can benefit anyone involved. Our network of resource information includes individuals in the medical, sports, legal and government fields. We also provide gifts of medical equipment and assistive technology, scholarships and other sources of funding to individuals in need to help them achieve their highest level of independence, health and fulfillment.

When providing peer guidance, RIDERS will provide inspirational advice and relay information on any and all issues that will help individuals in need achieve their highest level of independence, health and fulfillment. This information will include (1) how to prevent and deal with health problems ranging from skin issues to proper nutrition and everything in between; (2) medical supplies, such as wheelchairs, catheters and anything else appropriate to the situation; (3) assistive technology, such as automated home controls and voice recognition software; (4) athletic and recreational activities; (5) career information, such as employment referrals and advice to job seekers; (6) relationship and sexual advice; and (7) any other area of life that a person who sustains a life altering injury or becomes mobility impaired must learn to be successful in their “new” life.
